Celebrating the Joy of Train Travel!

Many train journeys around the world would not be possible without a simple yet impactful structure: the viaduct. These architectural marvels demonstrate human ingenuity, overcome natural obstacles of varying magnitudes, and make connections to distant destinations possible.

Just as viaducts bridge obstacles in our landscapes, we want to bring the joy of train travel closer together. We aim to foster a community of train enthusiasts, environmentally conscious travelers, or simply people who enjoy gazing out of train windows.

Train travel is not an alternative but an experience in itself

In a world where speed often takes precedence, we train travelers take a different path. We believe that train travel is not just an alternative but the better and more delightful way to travel. What could be better than comfortably sitting back, admiring the beauty of passing landscapes, and at the same time, contributing to the preservation of our planet?

viaduct is more than a train diary

With viaduct, we aim to document, archive, and celebrate your train adventures and experiences. With our exclusive prints, you can bring a piece of the railway world home. It's even better with a personalized MyTrainMap - tailored to your train adventures!

All aboard and let's get started!

Who is viaduct?

We, Michael and Florian, founded viaduct in 2024. The idea was born - where else - on a night train journey to Italy. We felt the lack of a platform where we could document our train journeys and map them out. And we decided to bridge this gap with viaduct.

Florian

Favorite spot on the train:
Facing backwards in the dining car.
Favorite train route:
Linzer Lokalbahn (I've been traveling on it since I was in elementary school).
Most impressive train journey so far:
On the OptimaExpress for 32 hours (actually 40 hours due to the eight-hour delay) from Villach to Edirne in Turkey.

Michael

Favorite spot on the train:
Facing forward in the dining car.
Favorite train stop:
St. Anton am Arlberg (because it's the gateway to my favorite ski resort).
Most memorable train experience:
Taking the Alaska Railroad to the Spencer Glacier.

viaduct contributors

We are grateful to all railway enthusiasts who contribute their knowledge and experiences to make viaduct better every day.
